to counteract this attitude. However, as times and a companys mission to meet those times have changed, so has the role of
the CEO. Todays business climate is a global, 24/7 one that can change almost every minute (Colin, 2002). Because of this, CEOs are finding they need to be, first and
foremost, delegaters to people who are experts (Colin, 2002). The purpose of this paper is to take a look at a typical CEOs day. To do so is interesting -
instead of being in leadership roles these days, were finding CEOs working as combination attorneys (as they make sense of government regulations), psychologists (as they soothe fractious shareholders), public relations
representative (in the event of a crisis situation) and ethics officer (as they determine the ethics of the people working beneath them) (Colin, 2002). Added to this part of the
CEOs job is the relentless media spotlight, especially if something goes wrong. For one thing, the CEO typically, on a daily basis,
must report to his or her employer, which is the companys Board of Directors. It is this board that can fire the CEO, determine his or her salary, or praise
the CEO. The CEO needs to check in with this group, so the group is aware that the company is running properly and profitably.
