press in the 16th century was a form of technology, in that it helped get more information out to more people. This, in turn, ended up impacting society - as
more people learned to read (in order to understand that information), they also learned to think for themselves, to make decisions and to have a say in how things were
run. As such, technology ends up impacting not only how things work, but how it impacts areas such as economics, politics and
culture. The printing press changed politics (as it led to newspapers, and reporting of politics and politicians). It changed economics by creating whole new job industries. And it changed culture
- it shifted the population from an illiterate society into one that could read (except for a few exceptions). Yet experts have
noted that the technological innovations of the 20th century have helped speed up various aspects of society. Its something to think about - 100 years ago, life spans were shorter,
wealth was not distributed as equally and people were born in one place and mainly stayed put for much of their lives. Yet these days, life spans are long, wealth
is of a somewhat more equal distribution and people move around from place to place more often because they can. In this
