TDG is a major supply chain firm operating across Europe. The organization has operation in seven European countries and employs in excess of 7,000 workers in those seven countries, with
the main arras of operation being the UK, Ireland, German, Belgium, France and Sprain (TDG, 2010). The main operations of the firm are the provision of supply chain services
which are focused in different sectors; industrial and retail sectors, consumer goods and chemical, with contracts to supply the supply chain services to many blue chip and other large companies.
The firm is divided into three divisions; Contract Logistics, European Chemicals and UK Temperature Controlled Services (TDG, 2010). A great deal of
the operations are reliant on the haulage aspects of the logistics operations, this is a core area of operations and one that is supportive of the entire firm. In order
to examine the firm the focus will be on the haulage aspects of the business in the UK, which is a major market where the firm has significant interests. To
assess this, the internal strengths and weaknesses can be asses, the way the firm competes and its aims reviewed in order to assess the way it should continue to compete
in the future. 2. Internal Analysis In order to assess the company and determine the way that firm should compete in the future it is essential to look at
the internal position of the firm so that the company can build on its strengths and minimise its weaknesses. 2.1 Strengths The firm is a major supplier of logistics
