product/service in question is a taxicab service in the Baltimore, MD area geared specifically for women. The "working name" under which this service operates is called Pink Taxi Company, though
the name is open to change at a later date. Though taxis, for the most part, are products (they are cars,
with wheels and a driver), they make up a service industry. In addition to the ride itself, the customer (i.e., rider) takes into account auxiliary factors such as waiting time,
travel time, cab driver personality and the cabs comfort (Fernandez et al, 2006). Individuals choose taxicabs for their method of transportation
for a variety of reasons: * To get from a point outside of town into town (for example, from the airport to a hotel). * To make a point-to-point trip
within a particular region (traveling from downtown Baltimore to one of the suburbs). * Unreliability of mass transit when it comes to arriving at a destination in a timely fashion,
or to get to a destination where mass transit doesnt travel. In a city like Baltimore, taxicabs do have a fair amount
of competition with other forms of transportation such as busses and light rail. But cabs have their own unique part in the transportation arena. The problem is that cabs are
not appealing to women. Target Market/Marketing Segment The majority of taxicabs and companies are male-oriented. Cab interiors can be dingy and
uncomfortable. Furthermore, most are driven by male drivers (many of whom cant speak English and others who are just plain rude). Young and attractive women, especially, may find themselves uncomfortable
