A recipient of ministry may be suffering in ways that the minister has never encountered previously?the death of a child or the devastation of a diagnosis of a terminal illness. How is a Christian counselor members of a congregation that experiencing marital problems, grief, or depression? Swihart and Richardson address the problems that are intrinsic to Christian-centered counseling.
