culture and harms the environment may be seen as unethical and harmful to economies in the long term, but these may be seen as broader issues of interest to the
entire community (Harris et al, 2002). In terms of looking at sustainable tourism there must be considered and then a minimisation of the harm that is created by tourists
and tourism. If there is damage to an environment, local culture or to the attractions themselves then over time they will become less attractive and the tourist will not want
to return. Sustainable tourism means that this can carry on (Harris et al, 2002). For the tourism industry it is not only the attraction itself that is the asset, but
the environment and the people, making it a place that tourists wish to visit, if this gradually degrades over time then the asset is loosing it appeal. To ensure the
long term well being of the area and the economy the tourism industry need to take an approach to ensure that the industry is one that is, or becomes
sustainable. 2. As well as the potential negative impacts there are also a number of potentially beneficial outcomes but to achieve these it is necessary to learn from the
