Twenty-five Elluminate users were surveyed for the purpose of gaining their general views about the program and online learning. The survey did not seek to
make any distinction between types of users or the reasons they use Elluminate. Another study might seek to gain the views of only students or only business workers and
managers, groups that use Elluminate for very different purposes. For this study, however, 25 general users were surveyed via questionnaire that they completed
themselves. The questionnaire sought information such as how long respondents had been using Elluminate, what they use it for and whether they found it difficult to learn to use.
Both academic and business users can be placed into three broad categories. Academic users use Elluminate either to gain course-related information; provide
course-related information; or to collaborate on an academic project. There is a group of business users who also could be categorized in such a manner, but the business-related focus
of the survey was on results between organizations and their customers. Though trainees in a training class can be regarded as customers as well, the use of the term
here refers to those weighing purchase decisions from non-specific companies. The third general group among business users is comprised of those substituting web conferencing for time-intensive travel, who choose
to "meet" online rather than in person. Survey Responses Of the 25 individuals surveyed for this study, nine report that they have been
