media is not applauding the war effort, reports to come from the region do suggest that the people of Iraq are thankful that the United States has done away with
a horrible dictator and now, the country can start anew. Still, the war on Iraq should be viewed in a larger context. Iraq has given the U.S. problems from time
to time and in and of itself, should be a nation that the United States would have to reckon with. At the same time, while maybe one can justify activity
in the region and specifically towards Iraq, the broader war on terror has been criticized. It should be emphasized that the war on terror that has been called " a
different kind of war" is different in that it is unlike World War I or World War II perhaps. However, it is not all that different from war in general.
It is war and American boys are once again going overseas to fight an illusive evil. President Bush for example uses the term evil quite a bit in respect to
the war against Iraq and the actions against Afghanistan. However, the only reason why it is popular at all is due to 9/11. Sachs (2003) predicts that "the war and
its aftermath will be hugely unpopular throughout the world, and hugely destabilizing as a result as it will reveal Americas weaknesses" (p.13). Elshtain (2003) on the other hand sees the
present war on terror a necessary war. She explains that there is a necessity to attack radical Islamic groups for example. This is in part because there is no organization
