However, the societal structure is patriarchal, which is reflected in the business world as well as the political world. For example the UAEs Global Entrepreneurship Monitor team which is sponsored
by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders and located at Zayed University is totally male (Allen et al, 2006). However, as a forward looking country there
are both male and female entrepreneurs, and despite the patriarchal status of the country there is some support for the female entrepreneurs. To assess what help is available and what
organizations are offering that help and what shortfalls or gaps exist the current provisions need to be assessed. The support that has emerged may be seen as emerging in an
environment where there are not yet any set policy frameworks to support SMEs, but there have been the development of some support programmes, but there is a general lack of
any substantial support (Haan, 2003). The nature of the social structure and the position of women in the past is also an indications of support for female entrepreneurs could
be of great value in helping them start and continue in business (Haan, 2003). There are some organizations that give help to all entrepreneurs and some that specifically help
