supply chain priorities there was the focus on the need for speed, for goods to be moved between the supplier and the buyer quickly. The speed of the movement was
associated with flexibility and efficiently. It was not only speed, but there were also issues concerned with the way that the supplied were obtained and moved, As well as
speed there were also concerns at making sure that the parts being brought In remained available and in stock. It is noted that over the past three to five years
that have been major changes ion many industries, The manufacturing processes have reached a point where there is now an over capacity. This increases the potential availability of supplies, whereas
in the past there was not the same level of over capacity making this a more sensitive issue. Efficiency and managing have been important points for a long time,
and a priory of the past has been the breaking down of the barriers to these goals. There were models used of internal silos where there were different bodies in
a company with their own system which were seen as a barrier to the way the goods moved. This was seen as a barrier to rapid movement in the supply
chain as well as efficiency and has been a focus of some attention for more than fifteen years. Question 2 Looking at the new priorities there is a shift.
The supply chain still has to perform the same functions, but the linkages and way it is achieved is adjusting to the ay the environment changes and the current pressures.
