The function of the supply chain essentially is a "higher calling" form of the logistics function of the past. It all involves moving product from one place to
another; in the case of businesses products may not be in final form and may even begin with raw materials to begin a production process.
Websites that serve businesses as their end customers and those that serve consumers as their end customers function alike in many respects, including their primary function of providing
service to their customers. The manner in which they serve their customers can differ significantly, however. Logistics and Payment It has been
said of the supply chain that it is a series of linked suppliers and customers; every customer is in turn a supplier to the next downstream organization until goods in
their final form reach the ultimate end user. In matters of supply chain, how the business customer receives the service of the supply chain can directly affect the business
own customers. The end-user customer is more interested in the final result than how the ebusiness site accomplished that result. An exception
to the above statement can be found in the sites handling of personal information. Security measures are much improved over what existed only a few years ago, and most
online shoppers are not as hesitant to supply credit card and other personal information. They still expect the business to protect that information and to ensure that it does
