the capability of conducting electricity with out resistance below a certain temperature. This is attractive as resistance was is an energy loss, so superconductors and superconductivity minimizes potential loss. Theoretically,
once set in motion, electrical current can flow continuously if undertaken in a closed circuit loop it is made of superconducting materials. In effect, this may be seen as one
of the closest things to the concept of perpetual motion, the scientists referring to the concept of superconductivity as a "macroscopic quantum phenomena" (Superconductors.org, 2010). In order to appreciate
the importance and potential of superconductivity it is necessary to look at the role that electricity plays in modern life, the potential application may be seen in any of these
areas, with the potential to increase efficiency and effectiveness, knowing the potential level of power required due to the reduction of resistance in the way that the power transmitted and
utilized, which means that the applications are endless. In the everyday world the use of copper silver and gold are the best conductors, but these are not superconductors and do
not even rank within the best superconductor elements (Superconductors.org, 2010). Research and development into superconductors has been undertaken for many years, recent developments include research into nano bubbles that
can remain magnetic at much higher temperatures than the traditional materials which are classified as conductors, this discovery by Tatiana Makarova and the use of tiny carbon buckyballs in tightly
placed sheets (Superconductors.org, 2010). Today there applications may be seen generally at higher temperatures, for example today the technology can operate at minus 235 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 148 degrees
Celsius) (Schaff, 2001). Research and development into superconductivity and the way in which it is utilized has potential applications for transportation. This is an area of application which may be
