given in both of these formats is such that only the very minimum is dispersed due to time restrictions inherent to both forms of media, however, CNN was significantly better
able to portray a more holistic report by virtue of its ability to combine the spoken word and video, whereas The Patriot Ledger has no choice but to remain within
the stringent boundaries of written copy and still photographs. That people have little time and even less patience in todays ever-hectic society speaks to the realization that viewers/readers want
their information fast and brief; only CNN has the capacity to capitalize on this public desire for abbreviated news. To its credit, The Patriot Ledger does have a small advantage
over CNNs ability to bulk up Super Bowl coverage, and that is through the written words capacity for evoking images in the readers mind. Sometimes imagination is a much
better tool for grasping a storys nuance then having actual images that are not as inspired. Indeed, the power to induce such response is directly related to how well
the reporter can convey the necessary emotion in but a few critical paragraphs, a challenge Wilner (2007) clearly failed to meet in his The Patriot Ledger article, with the following
passage wholly lacking any ability to cultivate much of a mental image: "Dungys ring wasnt the only first. It also was the first rainy Super Bowl and the
