subject is that anyone can win if they are fast enough and are somewhat flexible. They can also win by not attracting attention and performing behind the scenes. The lessons
that Sun Tzu provides goes to developments in war as well as in the business world. In fact, this is not the only volume that addresses ideas about war and
applies them to the board room. The idea that strategy is important in both war and business is legendary. It should be noted that the work is not
general as the author goes into specificities about war and which weapons should be used for example and how, but it is also true that for many readers, the writing
has permeated the original intent. Indeed, people have found the writing enlightening. Without getting into too much detail, the fact that this is one of the first books written on
how to plan and start a war, one can imagine that everything is spelled out in detail. It is, but it is to the twenty-first century reader somewhat of an
ordeal to read through the entire volume. The author for example talks about nine variables and these are most enlightening. For instance, he relays the fact that some enemies may
fight to the death. It is implied that many do not. Also included is the notion that "weapons are inauspicious instruments" (Griffith 112). Tzu goes into painstaking detail and while
