people, the youth, with thought and discussion. The books essentially trace his imprisonment up until the time just before the end of his life. The following paper summarizes each of
these books. Euthyphro In this particular book Socrates has been accused and is talking with his friend Euthyphro. This is a
book, or text, that offers up Socrates as he explains to Euthryphor why he is imprisoned, what they are saying about him, and how he feels about this. At the
same time it is a dialogue that offers up Socrates as he perhaps refines and drafts the argument he will present before the state. He is trying to understand what
has happened, while remaining innocent and humble, and attempting to figure out how he will argue for his case, and himself. In
the beginning he illustrates how he is being prosecuted and his friend asks him what he is being prosecuted for. Socrates replies, "Well, a very serious charge...He says he knows
how the youth are corrupted and who are their corruptors" (Plato Euhtyphro). As the book continues he examines things like piety and his role in all of the supposed claims,
still perhaps not arriving at solid answers when his friend tells him he has to leave. Socrates tells him, "Alas! my companion, and will you leave me in despair?
I was hoping that you would instruct me in the nature of piety and impiety; and then I might have cleared myself of Meletus and his indictment" (Socrates Euthyphro).
