a shortfall in expectation. A successful team is a team which is able to deliver the successful completion of a project, this needs a team to have several characteristic,
which will include clearly define team roles, trust between team members, with good systems of communication and control as well as having access to sufficient resources. In an organisation a
successful team will usually have the support of senior management, absence of this is a common cause of failure (Heerkens, 2001). It is possible that there can be success
without all of these elements being present, but it can be more difficult for the team members, may not be as smooth and may not bring the same benefits to
the team and the organisation. The Benefits When a Team Succeeds The direct benefit when a team succeeds is the commissioning party, or the organisations they work for. They
achieve a goal in the manner desired and the organisation benefits in terms of time, cost and use of resources. The stakeholders of an organisation will also benefit, as the
project will be undertaken with other long term goals in mind. For example, a project to build a new factory will benefit the firm, but it may also benefit the
community due to additional jobs it will create and the local economy due to the extra wages in the economy as well as potential buyers of the products (Chyssides and
