The Executive Vice President for Marshall Managements sales and marketing department Dee B. Marshall was interviewed in 2004. Amongst other observations, she notes: " The hospitality industry is all about
caring and service, which is a great match because most women are natural nurturers. When this compassionate instinct combines with good business skills, it is a win-win career" (qtd. in
Higgins, 2004, p. 118). Marshall also points to "team leadership skills" as a necessity in the industry (Higgins, 2004). Another important quote is as follows: "People, regardless of gender,
at all management levels need to be positive role models and demonstrate through their actions that you can work hard and achieve much, By trying to always lead by example,
with honesty, integrity and compassion, all employees can benefit" (qtd. in Higgins, 2004, p. 118). Overall, Marshall notes that employees in the business need to have good instincts, people skills
as well as excellent managerial and leadership skills. Additionally, they must exhibit honesty and integrity. Overall, attention to detail, a caring nature and excellent leadership skills will render a good
