The European Union makes good economical and political sense, but many people feared in joining a big club, believing that the individual countries, especially the

principle have been adopted, either out of moral reasoning or from their member states. Arguably the two most important ones are subsidiarity and proportionality, as they have been a limiting
effect on the would be power mongers of the EU, and ensured that the power, and European or National levels is not exceeded.
