and whether or not the reasons why registered nurses (RNs) gave their employers for leaving acute care facilities corresponded with what they would reveal to others. Descriptive vividness :
These researchers begin with a discussion of background information, placing their topic within a nursing social context, which admits that inadequate staffing is primary cause of nursing dissatisfaction. Throughout their
study article, the researchers provide details of their objectives, study methods and results, which are clear, vivid, and adequately describe the study procedures so that the reader has a clear
conceptualization of this research endeavor. Their compilation of the responses that nurses offered to the studys questions are particularly effective in helping the reader understand why these nursing professionals chose
to leave their positions. Methodologic congruence : First of all, the introduction appears to double as a literature review, and while the authors discuss past literature, in general, specifically
citing relevant studies would have substantiated their conclusions as to the findings of previous research. The authors then relate how their study sample was recruited and do an adequate job
of describing this sample. The authors relate that the study sample was recruited by contacting two major health care employers in Nevada and asking to be provided with a list
of RNs who had resigned in 1999, but who were eligible for rehire (Cline, Reilly and Moore, 2003). This study group was "self-selecting," but the researchers do not relate
