universities and colleges are quite expensive. This leaves students with perhaps three options, to pay their way through school themselves, to get grants, loans or scholarships, or to have their
parents pay the tuition costs. The following paper examines the difference between students who pay their own way and students whose parents pay their way. The paper argues that, more
often than not, a student who pays their own way appreciates and uses the education more than one whose parents pay their way through college. Students and Paying for
a Higher Education First of all we understand that many parents save and save for years to ensure that their children will get a higher education. Then there are those
parents who cannot afford to send their child to a college or university. From this first perspective we note that in the case of parents paying for the education, the
student knows, from an early age, that they will get a higher education. They will thus be more apt to take it for granted. A child who grows up knowing
their parents cannot afford to send them to college, will know that if they plan on doing so it will be hard. They thus begin, at an early age, to
appreciate a higher education. When a child begins college and has their parent paying for it they know that whatever happens, they can afford to be there. They do not
have to get a job, do not need to worry about eating or paying for books, and they know that they have the time to perhaps go out and party,
