He was caught. Assad (2006) explains that Hogan was under stress and saw robbing the bank as his only way out. Of course, while very few commit crime, all college
students and their parents are under stress as they go off to school. Why? College is expensive today. In the past, tuition was low as was competition. Today, the best
schools cost upwards of $40 or $50 thousand per year, including room and board. Many students do not quality for grants or scholarships and end up paying for school with
loans. These loans are considered to be the best way to pay for college, but some question the logic. After all, getting into debt can be frightening, particularly before one
has a means of support. StudentDebtAlert.org is an organization that is devoted to demonstrating to students that being in debt to complete their education is not the way to go
(Singletary, 2005). In fact, they want students to share stories about paying back the debt and convince others that student loans are not the answer to obtaining a college education
(Singletary, 2005). Student loans have in the past been less expensive as were tuitions. Singletary (2005) writes: " Congress is poised to make changes in the federal student
loan program that will make it more costly for students and their parents to borrow for college" (p.D02). Interest rates have gone up over the years for these loans, as
have other types of financing. It is true that ideally, parents and students should have been saving all along, but many do not and are financially challenged during that high
