are likely to be highly interdependent, influencing each other. However, it is not only the relationship between these two areas of industrial consideration that is important in terms of practical
application of management theory in the workplace. Each of these can be considered separately as well as together. Looking at both organisational structure and organisational culture the way in which
they impact on different aspects of the organisation can be considered. In this paper we look at health and safety and motivation and the way that they might be influenced
by structure and culture. The paper will look at structure first, focusing on the theoretical aspects of organisational structure and the way in which it may be influential in terms
of health and safety. The second part of the paper will consider aspects of culture and the way in which impact, influence or interact with motivation issues. 2. Organisational Structure The
way in which any tasks are undertaken within an organisation will reflect the internal systems, which in turn will be shaped by the internal structures. There are a number of
different organisational structures which will determine not only how thing are done, but may also influence the level of importance that is attached to different tasks. For example, in a
strict bureaucracy where there are clear hierarchies and employees in clearly defined jobs it is highly likely that aspects of health and safety will be taken care of by specific
employees in a formal manner, for example, inspection and maintenance will be the responsibility of a certain department, and where there is a problem there will be a set, documented
