advantages in the acquisition, Palm Inc., and the Palm Pilot, which is the Palm Inc. core product. Palm has been able to develop a very strong reputation, with a high
level of brand awareness and a strong and very positive reputation, which has been a source of competitive advantage for Palm Inc. Palm provide a range of handheld computers, in
addition to this there also extended into smart phones, services and accessories. The organization has also developed software which it has combined with a licensing strategy. The operating platform for
handheld devices had been licensed to a large number of major companies, including Nokia, Sony, Acer and Handspring. The Palm operating system has been a significant development, and the association
of the technology with Palm has been enhanced through this licensing strategy. The technology and reputation may be seen as complementing the existing range of similar devices offered by a
HP. However, Palm were not in a particularly strong position, the recession of 2008/9 has had a negative impact on many organizations reducing their sales. Palm has been innovating, with
a strong focus on operating systems, the WebOS operating system had be released in June 2009, and a number of models have been launched utilizing system including the smartphones such
