can range from one spectrum to the other. Often represented in such melodic rhythms are rage, love, happiness, sorrow and despair. Indeed, music is an avenue for the
composer to release the inner struggles that can be set free through no other means than verse. It can be a catharsis to ones ailing heart as much as
it can be a conduit between two otherwise strangers. Music is as diverse a means of communication as any medium, yet there are a vast array of elements that
make up this very unique and specialized form of expression. Igor Stravinsky understood how to manipulate this vast array of elements as a means by which to captivate his
audiences. "Stravinsky often railed against performers who brought too much warmth or expression to his music" (Godell 198). The twentieth century composer loaned out his talents for all to
appreciate; in doing so, he helped to educate the world on the merits of music through such classics as Petrushka. Stravinsky was compelled to compose an orchestral piece after The
Firebird, where the piano would be the focal point. In order to achieve this objective, he employed the augmented 4th indicative to The Firebird, composing two triads proved to
