strategy is likely to be best it is important that the different issues concerning strategic procurement examined. This paper looks at the way in which strategic procurement can be undertaken
for a construction project looking at the value of partnering and long-term relationships, supply chain management in discussing the potential value of adversarial relationships the management of contracts. A model
of strategic procurement with a framework that can be followed with five stages is suggested as an effective model for the use in a simulated case. 1. Introduction For any
project to be deemed successful it needs to be completed on time, within budget and to the correct standards. If any of these deliverables is missed the result is likely
to be an increased level of costs, and where contact companies have penalty clauses costs will not only be limited to the client as a result of the delays, but
could be substantial to the relevant contractors. The current project is one that provides a six storey building available for acute care patients, maternity patients and outpatient services as
well as accident and emergency services. There are two choices in how the project should proceed; one is a new build project, the other is a renovation of an existing
