The article by Phillip L Carter, Robert M Monczka, Trish Mosconi entitled Strategic Performance Measurement for Purchasing and Supply, published in 2005 looks at the way in which companies can deal with these types of measurements. The paper is based on research carried out with fifteen large companies that all have effacement and well managed measurement systems for the purchasing and supply functions. The aim of the research was to look at large corporation and consider the different ways that the problem has been resolved in the practical world. The am was to chose a diverse range of companies that could be used as sources data, the choice was of fifteen companies all that were in the fortune 500 list and were spread across eleven industries. Eleven of the companies had their main operations within the manufactured goods industries, although some also had service operations, four companies were primarily service operators.
