objectives for the partnership to work.i Partnerships allow the parties to pool their resources to achieve the objectives.ii Strategic partnerships are often configured so that one party is providing talent,
knowledge, expertise, skills and so on to the other party. Partnerships carry risks, or, at least some partnerships do. Depending on how the agreement is written, one of the
parties involved could lose a degree of flexibility.iii One thing that can really hurt a partnership is the lack of clarity in terms of accountability.iv A good example from a
huge corporation is Boeings problems with partners who did not provide the right parts or components on time for their Dreamliner airplane.v This delayed delivery to companies that pre-ordered the
plan. When Boeing decided to make a new airplane, their process was new in the industry and they are said to have revolutionized the industry because they entered into a
number of strategic partnerships. Unlike all projects in the past, Boeing neither designed nor built the new airplane themselves. The design was created by an international team that was comprised
of different major suppliers in the global industry who would develop not only the design but the new technologies needed for this new aircraft.vi The company reported: "The program has
signed on 43 of the worlds most capable top-tier supplier partners and together finalized the airplanes configuration in September 2005."vii Further, about 70 percent of new 787 Dreamliner aircraft was
built by others and not by Boeing.viii By 2005, Boeing had almost 100 partners in the design and construction of the Dreamliner, which initially met for a solid six months
