applications for strategic alliances the practical application is not open ended. For a partnership to be successful there are a number of factors requires, as seen with Armstrongs 7
Cs, not only is there the need for congruence and clarity there is also the need for communication, this takes resources and effort and the company will not have an
a limitless supply of resources to dedicate towards numerous strategic partnerships. Other Cs such as commitment and continual learning are also areas that require the use of resources, not
only physical, but also resources of labour over time, which efficiently limits the number of strategic alliances or partnerships a company will be willing to undertake. Otherwise the stretching of
the available resources will not result in many of the perceived benefits. There are also some difficulties with potential strategic partnership, dangers, such as the loss of competitive advantage
though the transfer of knowledge or costs that can increase beyond the benefits the partnership created (Grant, 2004). Looking at the phases of a successful partnership this also creates
a limitation of the take up of strategic partnership, prepare, plan, develop and renew. These all take time and effort and if they are limiting to a single company this
