has now succeeded in networking most of the developed world, such that the international and cultural barriers that used to stymie the flow of business and commerce are slowly being
eradicated. Globalization is increasing, and the common tack among business owners in the modern day is that information technologies open the entire world as a potential customer base, and this
fact should be taken advantage of. The result of these globalizing trends is that businesses and organizations now hold a greater influence in culture than ever before. Culturally speaking, people
now make their business decisions not simply on the basis of best prices and highest quality, but also on the basis of what image is culturally promoted by the organization
in question. For example, one might look at the current cultural emphasis on "green" standards. As people become more ecologically conscious, they are also expecting the same out of their
organizations, and with the instantaneous flow of information created by the internet, organizations that do not meet these standards can be quickly cast aside by the public, regardless of fundamental
business considerations. For this reason, businesses have begun to engage more transparently in practices intended purely to fulfill cultural and social obligations, a practice known as corporate social responsibility. This
