problems are and how to address them. Discussion What problems does Robin Hood have and what issues does he need to address? Well, lets see. Hes the leader of a band of outlaws that is growing in size, meaning that he has to find a way to feed and clothe them (Galt, 2007). Hes also fighting the Sheriff of Nottingham, who has a powerful, disciplined force and is quite likely to overpower the outlaws, either by direct action or by threatening the people Robin protects (Galt, 2007). There is also the fact that Robin is well-known; he and his men do not have the protection of anonymity. Finally, Robin is in fact the leader of a diverse workforce, one he must learn how to manage so that they perform to the best of their ability. Lets look at the problems one at a time. First, he has to feed and clothe his men, which could mean that he institutes something like a "transit tax" on people who come through Sherwood Forest (Galt, 2007). But if he taxes everyone, the tax will impact the poor more than anyone else (taxes are always regressive) and this will clash with his avowed mission of taking from the rich to give to the poor. Then there is the Sheriff and his soldiers. In stories, Robin is continually making a fool of the man but in reality its likely that the Sheriff was a bright and competent official who would have used every means at this disposal to stop what he saw as a threat to law and order. Knowing that the Sheriff is going to be coming after him, Robin would be wise to wind up his campaign in this area and move on (Galt, 2007). Or he might change his method entirely and ...
