in an adventurous story starring Tom who is known as Uncle Tom. But while Stowe was a writer, she was somewhat a legend in her own time. Abraham Lincoln
not only greeted her but remarked that she was the little woman who had caused trouble with her book (Dukes 24). Some have said that the meeting, and the book,
had influenced Lincoln in his making his Gettysburg address (Dukes 24). Indeed, books are influential, and Stowe wrote quite a political piece on the injustices of slavery. Although that is
the case, she did not write using inflammatory rhetoric. Rather, she wrote with objectivity and candor. She told the story as she saw fit, and the truth was something that
would eventually set the slaves free. Indeed, people were horrified as to what went on. Stowe did not have to say that slavery was wrong in words anyway. She was
the kind of author who would show, and not tell, and that is what writers are supposed to do anyway. The plot of Uncle Toms Cabin is extensive with
many exciting transitions along the way. Basically, Uncle Tom is a slave and there are other slaves, and owners, involved in events. When the story opens, Tom is owned by
Arthur Shelby but as the story unfolds, he is sold, where he befriends a white woman, even saving her life. At the end of the story, he is sold once
more, but his last owner is quite mean to him. Throughout the work, Tom maintains his solid faith in God and encourages other slaves.
