4 pages in length. Storytelling, while appearing to be one of those words that has multiple meanings, is actually quite established in its implication. Even with myriad types of stories that can be told, it is the way in which they are told that follows certain standards set down by such notable writers as Walter Benjamin and C.S. Lewis; in short, it is the perception - rather than the application - that provides the distinction for how a story is told. Each man looked upon the art of storytelling from completely diverse points of view, yet they both own the rights to claim their respective positions are viable definitions because there is more than one way to tell a tale. and Lewis reflects a much more formal approach than what is found in todays casual atmosphere of the Internet. Telling loose, ill-defined tales on such Web sites as Facebook
or MySpace of fantastic spring break adventures or a calamitous first date holds no comparison to the structured, illuminating purpose found in classic literature; this is not to say, however,
that such simple presentations as found on public Web sites fail to uphold some semblance of storytelling as espoused by either Benjamin or Lewis, but rather that it is far
less refined, much more abbreviated and lacking a pertinent message than the stories each of the authors have rendered. One aspect Benjamin focuses upon is the storytellers role in conveying
specific point by the end of the tale. This "moral of the story" is a pertinent focal point of childrens tales because, as Benjamin points out, these fictional accounts
were used as hidden lessons about life; while children enjoyed the fantasy aspect of the stories, they were unwittingly being taught valuable examples to carry throughout their lives. Today,
