leader. While it is natural that any postmortem commentary on a public figure will emphasize that figures positive qualities, the commentary on Steve Jobs tended to be consistent with that
given while he was still alive; namely, he was widely regarded by those in the technology industry as well as outside it as a "visionary". This visionary quality is what
many attribute the success of the corporation to; in other words, the personality of Jobs, the man, was responsible for the success of Jobs, the corporate officer, and Apple as
a whole. This paper will explore the concept of charismatic leadership as it applies to Steve Jobs and his successful management of Apple, with an emphasis on both the positive
and negative aspects of charismatic leadership. In order to explore this topic in-depth, it is first necessary to provide a nuanced overview of charismatic leadership in all its details.
Firstly, it is worth mentioning that charismatic leadership is one of many theories of leadership, and differs dramatically from popular models such as trait-based leadership. It is distinct in that
the focus is not so much on the talents an individual possessing that might lend themselves to effective management of an organization but rather the qualities of an individuals personality
that will inspire others to confer upon them a sense of authority that allows them to confidently lead an organization. For instance, whereas a typical leader may spend his or
her day analyzing metrics of company performance and making strategic decisions based upon some exceptional insight into the companys processes, a charismatic leader instead might spend his or her day
