society. One of the primary focuses of steroid use has been in the field of professional sports, and even more obviously, in the field of professional baseball. Major League Baseball
has become something of the symbol of steroid use in professional sports in many respects. It is the aspect of steroid use that has entered into the world of politics,
and the society at large. The following paper examines steroid use, discusses steroid use in Major League Baseball, and lastly presents other ramifications as they relate to steroid use in
Major League Baseball. The paper, in all sections, argues that steroid use is wrong. Steroid Use "Steroids are dangerous for two
reasons: they are illegal, and they can damage a persons health, especially if used in large doses over time" (Kids Health, 2006). People use steroids in order to build their
muscle mass and increase their strength and physical abilities. However, "steroids can produce very serious side effects in both males and females," especially if they are used over any length
of time (Kids Health, 2006). Over any length of time steroids can reduce sperm count in males, and can ultimately lead to impotence
in men. "Females who use steroids may have problems with their menstrual cycles because steroids can disrupt the maturation and release of eggs from the ovaries" (Kids Health, 2006). For
teenagers using the drugs ones growth can be seriously stunted, and in all users liver damage can take place, the heart can become enlarged, and many violent and unpredictable mood
