will occur on a regular basis, drastic changes sometimes provide challenges for both executives and their employees. In fact, because people value their jobs as it is intimately tied to
their lifestyle choices, changes at work can become quite worrisome for the average employee. This is true when it comes to both small and large organizations. This is why good
leadership is important when change is anticipated. First, what types of changes in organizations might arise? Changes come in many forms. Sometimes companies introduce new products which do wonders for
the bottom line of the corporation. This is a change that likely excites, rather than worries, employee. However, sometimes companies raise or lower prices. For example, Southwest Airlines in 2006
raised fares (Quintanilla, 2006). It sounds to be a matter of fact move. Every company raises prices now and again. However, in the airline business, this is unusual. Further, Southwest
built the company by lowering prices (Quintanilla, 2006). Clearly, such a change may be thought of as an upset and the employees, as well as other stakeholders, will have to
cope with changes that are brought about by it. Obviously, as customers and employees cope with the possibilities that this change will inspire, it is important to see good leadership
at the highest levels. Gary Kelly, the CEO of Southwest Airlines matter of factly explains his vision: "...we want to continue to improve Southwest Airlines customer service. We want
