where only English was spoken at home for all Hispanics-foreign born and native-totaled 3,304, 570 and were 3,254, 807 and 49,763 for native born and foreign born respectively ("Statistical Portrait
of Hispanics in the United States, 2007," 2007). In households where languages other than English were spoken very well, there are similar statistics divided among the foreign and native born
("Statistical Portrait of Hispanics in the United States, 2007," 2007). It is not really surprising that the foreign born speak English that is less well than their Native American counterparts.
In percent distribution statistics for example, it is shown that only 3.5% of the foreign born are speaking only English at home ("Statistical Portrait of Hispanics in the United States,
2007," 2007). The demographic data from the tables are interesting. While it may be true that the most and best English is spoken in homes where its residents are native
to America, and that is not a surprise, what is surprising is the number of people who speak Spanish today. It is true that there are bilingual pamphlets created by
government and in fact many products contain both English and Spanish, but in viewing the statistics, it is rather surprising. A reader might be surprised that so many Hispanic people
do speak English. This is surprising because of the multitude of bilingual literature produced. A reader would also likely find all the presented demographic information interesting because it expresses
the fact that Spanish is in fact a significant language in America, but it also provides enough information to suggest that many households speak English well. Another chart provides
