nightclub located in Knoxville, Tennessee, in the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains. A common phrase in the area is that fans of the University of Tennessee (UT) Volunteers
"bleed orange," a statement that is very nearly true. The site of the UT main campus, Knoxville and surrounding areas are filled with "Vols" fans, which include in their
number a significant number of people who do not necessarily like or follow sports as a habit, their only interest is in any kind of Vol contest. Of course
football and basketball are favorites, but people in the local area strongly support such sports as track and swimming as well. The physical
structure is a five-year-old building built for the purpose of serving as a nightclub and bar. It holds the anchor position of a strip shopping center on a busy
road that has neither restaurants nor residences within a half mile (Hollingworth, 2003). The building provides 3,500 square feet of patron space, with additional space devoted to kitchen, office
and bar activities. Customer Needs and Wants The nightclub industry had been declining for several years, but it recently has been enjoying a
return to popularity (Klee, 2002). The industry is intensely subject to the 18-month "honeymoon" rule, which indicates that most of the clubs profitability in terms of paying investors will
occur in the first 18 months after opening. The general trend in the market in the Knoxville area is that the nightclub industry
is recovering after two full years of recession. Customers appear to want a relaxing place where they have a choice of activities, including watching television sports. Spiceys will
