is not the form that Starbucks Corporation has adopted for itself. Starbucks Mission Starbucks mission statement is concise yet provides a "plumb line"
against which to measure decisions. The statement reads, Establish Starbucks as the premier purveyor of the finest coffee in the world while maintaining our uncompromising principles while we grow
(Starbucks Mission Statement, 2005). Starbucks follows this brief statement with a list of six guiding principles defining the broad issues most important to
the organization. These principles address positive work environment; diversity; excellence; satisfied customers; social responsibility; and profitability (Starbucks Mission Statement, 2005). Analysis Starbucks
is known for its commitment to employees, customers and social responsibility, all of which it lists as guiding principles. The statement itself is quite short, and on its own
would offer little guidance in any pursuit other than profitability. Addition of the guiding principles defines for management personnel - and indeed for everyone in the company - ends
for which they should work in any area. These guiding principles are quite short as well, clearly defining end goals without restricting the means by which the company reaches
