set forth in this particular act. The following paper examines and summarizes some of the content in the standards of change. Standards: No Child Left Behind
The first question is what does the document mean by Full State Qualification? This refers to the Full State Certification and this involves each individual
state and their particular requirements. Every state requires different things in relationship to what a teacher is required to know, or have studied. The document indicates that, "Full state certification
is determined by the state in accordance with state policy. No Child Left Behind allows states to set their own certification requirements" (ED.gov, 2006). And example of this may be
that one state requires Native American studies perhaps, due to a possibly high population of Native children. Or another state may require something completely different in terms of classes a
teacher should take, or information a teacher must obtain. The document further indicates that, "NCLB encourages states to have high standards and
to use this opportunity to strengthen and streamline their certification requirements to make sure that talented individuals are not discouraged from becoming teachers, or continuing to teach" (ED.gov, 2006). In
essence, such requirements will keep educators learning and it will ensure that the teachers are always on top of current information and procedures and requirements that are involved with NCLB.
