summarizes the findings. COMPARING TWO STANDARDIZED TESTS The Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) and the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale help educators and therapists in relating the difference between "simple attention
span from complex attention span" (Kingsbury 1998, 8). These intelligence tests have been compared to a "computers random access memory" (Kingsbury 1998). THE WECHSLER ADULT INTELLIGENCE SCALE This
well-known and popular test of intelligence was introduced to the public in 1939. The Wechsler Bellevue Intelligence Scale soon became the main standard of I. Q. tests and was
the one by which other measures of intelligence were judged. It was considered a very valuable tool for clinicians and researchers alike. This test is "based on the
assumption that intelligence is a group of separate but related abilities that allow us to learn, act with a purpose in mind, and respond accordingly" (Kingsbury 1998, 8). The
test is administered in about ninety minutes. The most current test added nearly fifteen subtests that are useful for different types of intellect. Some sections are used
to derive what is known as a full-scale IQ. Six sections will provide the verbal IQ. This is done by measuring word understanding and similar tests; and "five
yield a performance scale, measuring the capacities less related to verbal processing, such as copying designs made from blocks" (Kingsbury 1998, 8). These can all be combined in several
