t-shirts, one pair of desert boots, one pair of boots for wear in temperate climates, four pairs of socks, one riggers belt, three name tapes, two US Army tapes, two
rank insignia, two unit patches, one colored flag and one Infrared flag (US Army combat uniform). The illustrations that accompany this list show a solider in full combat gear with
a pack and rifle, in various poses, to illustrate the flexibility of the clothing. The color is not the familiar green and brown that recalls the jungle; the color is
now a sort of faded grey-green and very light tan, presumably more suited to the desert. A bulletin promulgated in 2005, which appears to be the most recent on the
subject, was issued in order to disseminate instructions on the "care and wear of the new wrinkle-free, universal camouflage pattern ACU ensemble approved by the CSA on 21 Mar 04"
(Tactical gear command, 2005). The instructions were effective immediately. The new uniforms were to replace "both the temperate and enhanced hot weather BDU in the clothing bag and the desert
camouflage uniform (DCU) as an organizational clothing and individual equipment (OCIE) item" (Tactical gear command, 2005). This directive lists the same equipment as the first paragraph above, but breaks it
down further; for instance, it describes the flag insignia as "hook and loop, velcroed"; the IR subdued is a U.S. flag insignia; and so on. But then it goes on
to list even more items that are to be worn with the Army Combat Uniform, breaking the list down according to the specialty, the theater of operations or the gender
