and learning, as well as expected futility and dreams achieved. The following paper examines how generational values have an impact on team development in the film "Stand and Deliver."
Stand and Deliver In this film the viewer is presented with a teacher, Jaime Escalante, arriving at a particular school expecting to
teach computer science, only to discover his class is a less than motivated or knowledgeable group of students and his subject is simple mathematics. In this one can see that
he is a teacher who did not expect that he would have to really teach the students fundamentals, or push them to higher levels, having expected students who were already
capable. This clearly would alter his approach to teaching these students, and all but force him to become a very substantial leader.
Generational values, in relationship to this film, are necessary for these students as they come from the teacher. These students are generally underprivileged and individuals who have little or no
respect for the adults because they seem to have experienced a world of adults that does not necessarily care for them. It is a negative reality, and a reality that
seems routine because adults simply believe they will teach and students have a limited ability to learn. There is little in the way of hope as it relates to the
students from the perspectives of the teachers, but for this one teacher there is great expectations, part of a mature value, which will be imparted to the students. Escalante
