Examining adolescence, middle adulthood and late adulthood through the eyes of Hollywood's perspective, one can clearly see the poetic license filmmakers take with developmental factors when the ultimate objective is for the purpose of amusement or exaggeration. and emotional stability. It has been said that beauty is merely a myth influenced by western patriarchal society, however, while the notion of physical beauty may appear trivial, every
culture upholds its own standards in one way or another; establishing a cross-cultural comparison of the idea of beauty as an independent value throughout myriad cultures directly relates to womens
perception of power and existence. As Bring It On accurately illustrates, contemporary society equates physical beauty and sexuality with power, even when that power is not warranted. The
film goes beyond superficiality of gender, class and race competition to delve deeply into the psychological aspects of fitting in, a struggle Piaget, Erikson and Freud all recognize as a
most frustrating and confusing developmental facet faced by adolescents. Piagets Cognitive Development theory points out how the impact an adolescents self-image takes in a less-than-supportive environment has a tremendous
