relationship with God. It is not an abstract work that simply tells people how to behave, but simply and clearly and intensely walks the reader through the steps one can
take in developing a more connected relationship with God. It does not speak in such terms that the reader, either then or now, feels lost and confused about the idea
of theology. The following paper illustrates how St. Teresa honestly, realistically, humanly pulls the faithful into a position wherein they can understand
and comprehend a deeper and more meaningful relationship with God. The paper then illustrates how, regardless of time period, St. Teresas instructions are as powerful and real in the strong
secular world of today as they were in her strongly religious time of the 16th century. Her words and instructions are valid and beneficial for anyone of any time and
