(5 pp.) Anslem (1033 - 1109) was considered the
most enlightened theologian in the eleventh
century. He chose to be member of the religious
community at the age of 26, and though he never
doubted the existence of God, he determined that
he wanted to think through, through rational proof,
what he believed in his heart. His first book,
Monologium, contained his rewording of all the
logical arguments that he had found from earlier
writings. This work had at least 65 chapters, but
then he wondered, could he compose a single proof,
which would say succinctly what others had said
before. This is his book Prosologium; which is the
text that will provide the base for this
