God is well beyond any humans ability to comprehend. He is infinite, we are finite, He is omniscient, our knowledge is limited, He is pure in His perfection, we are
sinners. These beliefs are the foundation of my spiritual reality. God is spiritual reality and Pastor Beck says that we can connect to this reality when we are able to
transcend our conscious awareness. When we become spiritual, we really do reach beyond our human consciousness. It is not always easy to reach beyond because it requires that we give
up human things, just as Christ told the rich man, "Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow
me" (Mark 10:21). And, Paul explained to the Corinthians: "Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know
in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known" (I Corinthians 13:12). He was talking about spiritual awareness and spiritual reality. As we grow in faith
and behavior, we become more aware and out awareness will be greater. A spiritual maturity assessment tool from Bethesda Church also assesses ones awareness. It is intended for congregational
members but it can also be used by pastors with some modifications. The scores on the different areas were, eight is the highest score unless otherwise noted: personal public commitment
to Jesus (8), personal walk with God (6), Bible reading and study (8), Character change, 17 is the highest score for this one, (13), Being a missionary in our world
