When people drive they often listen to music, eat or perhaps talk to someone in the car with them. But, there are many people who do things such as texting
on their cell phone while driving, talk on the cell phone, shave, put on make-up, read maps or even articles of books, and many other things which are clear distractions
from the road. The following paper examines speeding and various distractions that lead to car accidents. Speeding and Distractions: Car Accidents In first looking at the variety of
distractions this paper will address speeding which is not something really considered to be a distraction because it involves the act of driving. The problem with speeding is that it
puts others in danger and also gives the driver less time to react to possible accidental occurrences such as a car moving into their lane. It is noted that, "Approximately
6.2 million reported crashes occurred in 2004. Speeding - defined as exceeding the posted speed limit or driving too fast for conditions - is a factor in nearly one-third of
all fatal crashes" (Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety, 2009). When a person speeds, as mentioned, there is less reaction time. But,
there is also an increase in the chance that the driver will get into an accident because of speeding and it is also something that makes an accident even more
