an emerging educator and potential leader. Developing an understanding of the social, physical and educational needs of young children with disabilities requires an understanding of the cognitive, mobility
and communication processes that can hinder their effective learning in traditional educational models. Many researchers support the concept of early intervention, which is based on the belief that the
early a child receives intervention services, the better the outcomes for the child. In many cases, children who receive services at an early age will require fewer services later
in the educational process than similar peers who have not received early intervention programming. One of the central components of Early Childhood Special Education is the introduction of necessary
intervention services, including both home and program-based services, that promote methods to address the needs of preschool, kindergarten, and elementary school aged children. An overview of the Masters Degree
coursework that I have completed and the research that supports specific focal points for these areas of education demonstrate the breadth of information that I have covered during my educational
