GEOGRAPHICAL SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES Some of the main geographical/cultural differences and similarities between Spain and the United States are based within their respective economies. For example, research of housing type revealed how Americans are far more likely to live in single or two-person situations (57%) in comparison with their Spanish counterparts (32%). It stands to reason, therefore, how further investigations finds that Spain has far more multi-person households than in the United States, which indicates that family size overall is much larger in Spain (Garner et al, 2003). As of 2007, the ethnic classification reflected the following: white 79.96%, black 12.85%, Asian 4.43%, Amerindian and Alaska native 0.97%, native Hawaiian and other Pacific islander 0.18% (CIA, 2008a).
