founding premise was to get people to their destinations on time at the lowest possible cost and to have fun doing it (Southwest Airlines Co., 2009a). The maiden flights went
between Houston, Dallas and San Antonio, Texas. They filed their application to extend service to the Rio Grande Valley in 1973 and the company was approved in 1975. That same
year, the company began its Rush Cargo Service (Southwest Airlines Co., 2009a). The company was first profitable just two years after its first flight. They have continued expanding service throughout
the years. Southwest was named number on in customer satisfaction for many consecutive years. As it grew, it became the official airline for companies, such as Sea World of Texas
(Southwest Airlines Co., 2009a). Southwest acquired Morris Air in 1993. This gave Southwest an opening in the Pacific Northwest. In 1994, Southwest became the first airline to offer
Ticketless Travel services beginning in four cities (Southwest Airlines Co., 2009a). in 2005, Southwest entered into an agreement with ATA Airlines with a code-share agreement, which opened up more flights
